Housework

Someone asked me what I do with my time. Good question! I had to really think about that, & May have fried a few brain cells in the process πŸ˜‚  Everything I do in my new life, takes longer, much longer. It’sa smaller space, so things can’t happen fast, or I bang into things. πŸ˜‚ (bruise pics go here) My day typically looks like this... 6am ish- walked up & stretch, open curtains & make bed. Climb carefully down the ladder & put it up on the bed. Take pookums out to toilet on the grass area. Pickup πŸ’© if necessary. Feed said pookums. Fill whistling kettle with approximately a cup of water, so I don’t use more gas than I need, & it doesn’t take until 9am to boil. πŸ˜‚  Make coffee & get breakfast ready. Turn on hot water. Drink coffee, eat. Marvel at daybreak. Wash plates & make 2nd coffee. Drink, wash cup & dry dishes (unless I did it while kettle was boiling) emails etc. Shower, dress & wipe down shower. Put shower curtain out the window to dry, scrape

Sunrises & Sunsets

Image
I love staying at the beach! I was posting sunrise & sunset pics, but thought you’d all get sick of seeing them.  But today I realized that every day they’re different.  The differences are subtle, but if you watch them develop, they all have different color variations & patterns of behavior, for want of a better phrase.  Sooooo I’ll post them here 😊 Then you can choose if you want to look at them. Seeing as you’re here anywayπŸ˜‰ Enjoy 😊   It’s amazing how the day dawns. I love being up for it! πŸ₯° And now I’ve learned how to get the pics on, & in order, the posts should make more sense, & be more enjoyable 😊 This was the view from my door this morning at Ariki Reserve, Snells Beach. I’ll always post the location after I leave, for safety πŸ˜‰

First Maintenance Costs. But wait, there’s more!

2 days ago I took The camper to a reputable garage for a clutch repair. Unbeknown to me it was slipping & on the way out. So thankful to the friend who pointed it out, because although it was only moderate, there were other issues that needed attending to. Lucy Moore Park It has its own slave! Who knew! Wish I had one sometimes πŸ˜‚ it’s kept in a special slave cylinder, much like a genie I suppose. Wonder what that slave does all day? Lays around eating grapes I suspect. Anyway, said slave cylinder needed replacing as it was leaking... the mind boggles at such a thought. So I thought I’d better agree to that Tidal river There were issues with getting the parts up from the South Island of New Zealand, where I live in the North Island. And because I live in the camper, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. The company very kindly said I could stay in it, out the back of the workshop overnight, in their locked fortress. High fence with barbed wire. Have to wonder what’s happened there

Cleaning Day

Image
It’s cleaning day! For the truck, not the flat (apartment) Armed with just some marble paste & Enjo cloths, I began the laborious process of cleaning the cab & cabin from top to bottom. I always do that when I buy something. I think it’s a part of getting rid of the history & making it mine. I had No idea what I was in for! It hasn’t been cleaned for a significant period of time! The windows were mouldy, the curtains needed washing & it hadn’t been vacuumed since the work was done on the cabin 2 years earlier. I know that because of the sawdust shavings. The ceiling was a mission to clean, but I got it done & moved on to do the cupboards next. That was relatively easy, as the surfaces are all laminated & easy to wipe.  Bathroom on the other hand, was a nightmare on my street! Hasn’t been Cleaned in Quite  a while, shall we say... Next the doors & cupboard fronts, drawers & lockers. The first 3 were easy enough, but the lockers have wee holes to the outs

July 17 2020 The BIG Decision

Today I bought my own tiny home, on wheels.  It was the most terrifying experience, trusting someone I didn’t know to help me make a good choice,  with all my money. I’ve never such a significant income before, so it was a huge thing for me, not only to have earned & saved it, but also to spend it,  after having saved hard all year, for well over a year actually. I bit the bullet & said yes, shaking like a leaf in autumn. It was now mine.  Drove her home to clean & pack full of all my worldly goods, before going on the road full time. I also had to tell the flatmate that life as she knew it was over, deal with the fallout from that, & begin the process of selling everything that wouldn’t fit into the camper.  A friend at the time had said they would buy the house lot, which was a great blessing at the time, but unfortunately when the time came to organise the receipt & payment for everything, they let me down. Gutted to say the least. They wanted the TV with the ho
