Roosters & calves
Yesterday Thames, Paeroa today. It’s good to just rest for a change. I want to get started on the complex costume now, & have an idea or two to be able to make it happen.
It was gorgeous to pull into a farm & see calves yesterday & catch up with some friends who I met through the buying process of Steamin Along. And hearing Rocky the rooster, as I’ve named him 😂 Those things from some of my past memories keep me alive. Nature, animals, birds & creatures of the land are constants.
They don’t change how they live, like we do. Every dawn they’re up getting brekkie, every dusk dinner & varying stuff in between. It’s great to see a farmer providing shelter for his calves, with a shed out in the paddock. Of course being calves, they just want to hang around the trough, in case those teats magically produce more food for a while 😂
Cute eh
Steamin Along turned out to be such a blessing to me, with her creature comforts & all the horses to pull me up & down this volcanic land we live in. I’m loving the cooler weather which surprised me, apart from the damp. Damp is hard to get out of a Motorhome. It means opening it up every day to dry out. So the vents are open before dawn, when the weather usually kicks in, for good or bad.
I’m going to miss this girl, as I didn’t realise what I had, as we don’t, until I needed to sell her. Others struggle with the steep hills in our country, in some places. Not me! She veritably kicks asses butts 😂
The next vehicle will hopefully turn up quickly so I can get back out on the road again, & be inspired to write the memoirs of a Kiwi traveller, post Covid.
Clean sheets tonight woohoo! Thanks to the mate who lets me do laundry at her place. Smashing it out of the park tonight! 🎊
Time to find out what else is here, while I can. I’ve been a bit worried that I won’t be able to continue this epic adventure, with the changes in my body of late, but that’s daft! I’m a tenacious Kiwi girl 💃 While I can move, I’ll do it!
Sorry to hear you're selling your truck?....have I got that right? Hope you get back on the road soon. Great photos of vintage Paeroa....safe travels! 💙👍
